John Stockbridge built in 1650, a Saw Mill, on 1st. Herring Brook. [It is believed this 1650
Saw Mill was built at a place, now called Town Resevoir and Greenbush Pond, up-
stream from the 1640 Stedman Grist Mill (later owned by Stockbridge). The 1650 Mill
was later burned down during the Indian War of 1676.]
