John Stockbridge purchased « interest of George Russell in 1656, of the first Grist Mill built in      
               1640 by Stedman. Charles Stockbridge in 1665 bought out the other « interest from       
               George Russell.

John Stockbridge built in 1650, a Saw Mill, on 1st. Herring Brook. [It is believed this 1650            
               Saw Mill was built at a place, now called Town Resevoir and Greenbush Pond, up-         
               stream from the 1640 Stedman Grist Mill (later owned by Stockbridge). The 1650 Mill    
               was later burned down during the Indian War of 1676.]
